Kimberley Gorges Escape 2 Day Tour Day 1 Geikie Gorge

Starting off at 7:00am, you begin your journey into Kimberley gorge country. This trip will take you past Australia’s indigenous Boab trees, termite mounds and roaming cattle, whilst listening to our guide and his font of wisdom. After a relaxed morning tea at Willare Roadhouse on the impressive Fitzroy River, you will travel east to the historic town of Fitzroy Crossing. Here you will discover the ancient Napier Range and its incredible Geikie Gorge. 30m deep, nature carved the gorge between the Geikie and Oscar Ranges during the Devonian geological period. To truly experience the scenery and beautiful wildlife you will aboard the Geikie Gorge Ranger-guided Cruise. Then, prepare yourself for a breath taking sunset BBQ and evening spent under the Kimberley night sky, before retiring to your choice of accommodation.

Day 2 Windjana Gorge & Tunnel Creek

After breakfast, there is a 4WD route to Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system carved within the Napier Range, a Devonian reef which dates 350 million back. Here we learn about the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal freedom fighter who navigated the Tunnel for refuge in the late 1800’s. A refreshing swim in a refreshing waterhole is a great chance to cool off. Then it’s off to Windjana Gorge for an Aussie lunch and to search for freshwater crocodiles, local birdlife and indigenous bush tucker in the natural beauty of this Garden of Eden in the outback. With attractions to be seen on the way home like the ancient Boab Tree which is thought to be 1500 years old, you’ll back to Broome just in time for the sunset!
