
What’s On At The Blue Room Theatre In Season Two
The Blue Room Theatre’s second season for 2012 is here, and it promises to be one of their best, featuring nine new shows, from first-time producers through to seasoned pros.
From July 31 through to December, Season Two includes new devised work, a sassy take on a David Memet classic, a World War Two story told in a most original fashion and even a song cycle!
The season kicks off on July 31 with the premiere of Vivienne Glance’s The Cat In The Box – an absurdist comedy about quantum mechanics featuring a line-up of favourites including Summer Williams, James Helm, Kingsley Judd and Anna Brockway.
Renegade Productions make a welcome return with the opening of their song cycle The Book Of Death (A Story Of Life), a hybrid of performance art, live music and storytelling from 8 August.
Up-and-coming producers The Broken Image Ensemble present their debut work Home, a devised piece based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s play of the same name, directed by Sarah McKellar (All’s Well That Ends Well, Red Cross) from 28 August.
Mark Storen brings his solo performance The Polite Gentleman to our studio space from 4 September. Presented by theMOXYcollective, this crossroads fable feature live blues music and an appearance by the Devil in a most unexpected guise, directed by acclaimed director Adam Mitchell.
Returning to The Blue Room Theatre fresh from their Fringe World sellout Sleepyhead, Nathaniel Moncrieff and Sam Farringdon invite you to Tinkertown – a dark and menacing look at rural Australia from 25 September.
Blue Moose bring to life a fascinating tale of World War Two survival and hope through puppetry and shadowplay in The Warrior And The Princess from 2 October, while the nest ensemble present their critically lauded Eve from 23 October, direct from hit seasons in Brisbane and Sydney.
With a special pre-season performance chosen to feature alongside the Fourteen Modern Masters MOMA exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA on 25 October, Picasso’s Goldfinch by Tom Jeffcote then takes up residence at The Blue Room Theatre for a full season from 30 October.
Winners of the 2011 Blue Room Best Production Award for Scent Tales, Little y Theatre Company round out
the season with a fresh, all-female take on David Mamet’s ferocious hit Glengarry Glen Ross from 20 November
