Fresh from launching their brand new 12″ Monster/Lasers For Eyes in July, Melbourne dark synth heavyweights The Night Terrors hit the revamped Ding Dong Lounge for one more Melbourne show on Saturday the 1st of September. Featuring the vintage horror synth and haunting theremin melodies of Miles Brown (student of Russian theremin queen Lydia Kavina), the powerhouse drumming of Damian Coward (Heirs, Love Like…Electrocution), and mad synth skills of Laura Bradfield (Heirs) and Nedd Jones (Antarctica) The Night Terrors offer a mind-melting mix of dark synth magic, thunderous dreamscapes and other-worldly electronica. This will be their last Australian show before they head off to Europe and promises to be a massive party – don’t miss out!

Two bands alike in virtue and acclaim will be going at it head to head to form the SPLIT ENDS 2012 tour. Stopping off at Dong Dong in September will be Boy In A Box and Kingswood as part of this epic tour. With a new EP to offer and something to prove, Boy In A Box have been getting huge raps of late for their catchy as hell single ‘On My Mind’ as well as their incendiary live shows. Already no strangers to big stages, Boy In A Box have toured alongside the likes of Birds Of Tokyo and Calling All Cars, as well as appearing at Falls Festival in its 2011 incarnation. Kingswood, the four-piece are teeth-gnashingly ready to take on all comers with no quarter asked and none to be given. With more than a few recent wins under their collective belt including slabs of national airplay for their recent singles ‘Yeah Go Die’ and ‘Medusa’, the band has also been given the green light to kick off main stage proceedings at the 2012 Splendour In The Grass festival. A rockin’ show not to miss!

Split Seconds stunning debut album ‘You’ll Turn Into Me’ is set for release on August 10. To celebrate the band are going to jump in a van and hit the wide open road. Almost two years ago Richard Kingsmill endorsed the band at Perth’s One Movement proclaiming Split Seconds to be his new favourite Perth act. Having recently located from hometown Perth to the urbanity of inner city Melbourne, Split Seconds have been a triple j staple since late 2010. And with their latest single ‘Top Floor’ joining previous playlist favourites ‘All You Gotta Do’ and Bed Down’, Split Seconds’ ‘You’ll Turn Into Me’ will confirm the band’s bona fides as one of the triple j 2012 Next Crop alumni. Recorded by Matt Giovanangelo (Voltaire Twins), and mixed by Aaron Cupples (The Drones, Snowman, Dan Kelly) and Dave Parkin (Felicity Groom, Jebediah), this debut album is set to be one of the best Australian releases for 2012. Split Seconds will be giving Melbourne audiences a taste of the album at Ding Dong on Saturday 8th September.

The Red Paintings are proud to announce their return to Australian stages this September for a run of intimate promotional shows before heading off to the UK and Europe for a 6-week headline tour. The ‘’Chinese Whispers” tour brings a creative new stage show to Australia, and will tantalizing Ding Dong audiences on Thursday 13 September when they will be showcasing songs from the band’s forthcoming album ‘The Revolution Is Never Coming’. The live experience incorporates cello, violin, piano, drums, bass, guitar and vocals. The show is an artistic reflection on the potential outcome of conscious human neglect of our natural resources. At each show, artists and audience members are encouraged to join the band on stage to express (through painting) their individual visions. In addition to painting on traditional canvases, the artists also paint on ‘human canvases’. This will be live art and music at its best!

On a miserable Melbourne afternoon, Alex Trevisan & Hayden Somerville awoke, trudged through the freezing rain and found themselves in a life changing jam session. Somewhere between the need to vomit and far too many cigarettes, Lurch & Chief was formed…They enlisted four others to become a six piece. Now having played a few shows around Melbourne the band are ready to launch a new single. Come join them in celebration with The Red Lights and Agility on Friday 14 September.

Melbourne garage/surf/rock band The Corsairs formed back at the start of 2011. After bursting onto the scene they quickly started to fill dance floors with their captivating songs and energetic live performances. Balancing raw garage rock with layered surf harmonies, The Corsairs compel you to dance around in the front row, yet are melodic and soulful enough to be the soundtrack to that perfect summer night. Not quite summer, but this Spring The Corsairs are going to be launching their brand new EP on Saturday.

If you’re looking for some California dreamin’ in September, you’ll do no better than getting along to Ding Dong Lounge on Saturday, September 22nd for a killer double-bill as two Melbourne favourites – Dancing Heals and Jimmy Hawk & The Endless Party – bid their home town a fond farewell before they each head to faraway shores. Still basking from glowing reviews for their debut LP titled “Into The Night”, Cali-inspired pop outfit Dancing Heals have been selected to perform at CMJ, and will be heading to NYC in October to play showcases before locking themselves away in a North Carolina studio to record their new EP. Meanwhile, Jimmy Hawk and The Endless Party will launch the indie pop delight, “Morning Light” – the second single from their recently released and highly praised third album, “Liberty Sunset Blue”. So come bid farewell at what promises to be a splendid Ding Dong affair, with Tone Deaf DJs adding to the festivities on the eve of Jimmy’s departure to the UK for a run of solo shows.
