What’s on in Sydney today

Looking for things to do in Sydney today? From cultural events and live music to family-friendly activities and art exhibitions, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re exploring Darling Harbour or catching a show at the Sydney Opera House, discover what’s on in Sydney today and make the most of your day!

Opera House: Folk Reimagined – East in Symphony

Catch the exclusive world premiere concert at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall tonight. Featuring a vibrant collaboration between the Guizhou Chinese Orchestra and The Australian Orchestra under Long Guohong and Luke Spicer, the program showcases traditional and modern works, including the symphonic debut of Black Myth: Wukong inspired by the Chinese video game.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations

Today marks the start of a special First Nations-led cultural program at Barangaroo and the Australian National Maritime Museum:

  • Dance by the Water (7–12 July) at Barangaroo: Free movement and storytelling workshops celebrating Country through dance.

  • Family Fun Day at the Maritime Museum: Onsite art‑making, music, face painting, and dance from Bangarra .

Yoga Under the Bridge

Start your Sunday with a free, open-air yoga session at Dawes Point (under the Harbour Bridge). It’s a serene way to stretch out and prepare for the day.

Kids’ School Holiday Fun

The winter school holidays are in full swing! Today and the rest of the week, check out:

  • Pony camps at Centennial Equestrian, Moore Park.

  • Craft workshops, karaoke, build-your-own snowman, and Alpine-themed zones daily at Darling Harbour’s Alpine Activity Zone.

Markets & Stalls

Although the Bastille Festival starts mid-July, you can already visit regular markets like The Loco Markets at Eveleigh and Sydney & The Rocks walking tours. For art-lovers, the National Indigenous Art Fair wrapped up its weekend now, but the galleries and museum walks remain open and free.

Theatre & More

Aside from tonight’s Opera House concert, the city’s theatres are bustling with the likes of BullyBully and The Twits in Playhouse and Studio; check listings at Opera House. Plus, Coriolanus starts tomorrow in the Neilson.

Outdoors & Culture

Take advantage of mild winter weather with walks at Taronga Zoo or the Brickpit Ring Walk at Sydney Olympic Park. These are perfect family-friendly outdoor escapes.

Plan Ahead

  • Coming up: Bastille Festival (17–20 July), free French-themed food and drink by Circular Quay.

  • Bondi Festival opens 4–20 July, with a beachside ice rink, live music, dog parade, and more.

No matter what your vibe—arts, culture, fresh air or family fun—Sydney stages something memorable for today. Whether you’re catching a world-class concert, exploring First Nations culture, or keeping the kids busy, there’s something to suit every mood.
