Thus, as long as they continue to work for the same business for more than six months, Working Holiday Makers (Subclass 417 and 462 Visa Holders) will be eligible for extended work privileges as of January 1, 2024. Nevertheless, there are a few conditions on these increased vacationer employment privileges.
Based on its newly released Migration Strategy, the government is consulting on ways to change the parameters of the Working Holiday Maker visa scheme. But for the time being, working holiday makers won’t have to worry about meeting Condition 8547, which typically limits an employer’s liability to a six-month maximum stay.
Additionally, working holiday makers were not required to satisfy Condition 8547 during the epidemic. Nevertheless, the requirement was reintroduced on July 1, 2023.
