Croatia is a haven for sun seekers who flock year in year out to the country’s shores to experience some of the most stunning beaches in the world, Croatia’s notorious nightlife scene and of course the unique European culture that makes its inhabitants hospitable and friendly. Another reason to visit this destination is to experience the local cuisine that each region contributes to Croatian traditions. Here are 5 cuisines you have to experience first hand…

Cevapi

Cevapi is a grilled dish of minced meat and onions – essentially a kebab skewer that is popular amongst locals and holiday makers alike. Try cevapi with a freshly baked flatbread with some feta cheese and mixed peppers for the full Croatian experience.

Seafood

Croatia benefits from being idyllically located along a long stretch of coast line, so it’s not surprising that the Croats know how to do seafood. Whatever dish you opt for you won’t be going far wrong but one of our favourites is Brodet – a dish usually found on the Dalmatian coast. The dish is a a rich seafood strew with a mixture of seafood and shellfish.

Pizza

Whilst pizza is a typically Italian delicacy, each country has altered their version to suit the locals tastebuds. Croatia is no different and have over time become masters at this traditional Italian treat. The pizza is thinly rolled and charcoal-flecked – giving the dough that chewy but crispy consistency that we all love.
