If you’re a foodie then the Orange F.O.O.D (Food Of Orange District) Week is an iconic experience to showcase the region’s great reputation for food and wine. Indulge your senses as local chefs and restaurants showcase their skill with farm gate tours, cooking demonstrations and the famous 100-Mile Dinner. Each year F.O.O.D. supports local produce and ‘fine food’ with an annual event held over 10 days in April, showcasing the producers, their products, the local chefs and restaurants. During F.O.O.D Week you can visit farms, markets, kitchens, restaurants, cafes, wineries, attend special celebration dinners, workshops and events and sample fine wines, orchard fruits, beef, lamb, venison, vegetables and more.
If you want to venture further into Central NSW, continue your love affair with a side-trip to Bathurst, just a 45-minute drive away. One of Australia’s oldest inland settlements, Bathurst’s historic town centre is fascinating, with a blend of old and new including revitalised laneway bars, cafes and restaurants. Be sure to check out the Autumn Colours program of events and the Bathurst Motor Festival, running from Friday 25th March 2016 to Sunday 27th March.
Autumn Colours runs from the beginning of March through until the end of May and includes major events such as the Gold Crown Carnival, Proclamation Day, Hill End Historic Buildings Open Day and many more. The Bathurst region is renowned for its four distinct seasons and the autumn months are among the most beautiful of the year.
