New Jeff Buckley Recordings
Columbia / Legacy Recordings / Sony Music Entertainment Australia have released You And I, the very first studio recordings made by Jeff Buckley for Columbia Records. Whilst digging through old recordings for the 20th anniversary edition of Grace, Sony found recording which had been seldom heard for 20 years.
On You And I Buckley travels through some of his influences stopping to give each one a personal flavour. Bob Dylan’s Just Like A Women gets the treatment, as do Led Zeppelin and The Smiths.
During an interview in 1994, Buckley said that , “Any time I take a cover and wear it on my sleeve, it’s because it had something to do with my life and still marks a time in my life when I needed that song more than anything ever.”
Also on the album is the first ever studio recording of Grace and a haunting original track called You And I.
It’s a thing of beauty, and a stark reminder of a genius gone to soon.
