
60th Sydney Film Festival Announces Winners Of The 2013 Festival Awards
The 60th Sydney Film Festival, which took place between June 5th-16th 2013, has revealed the winners of the Sydney Film Festival Awards.
With many prestigious awards to be won, the winner of the 2013 SFF Official Award was given to Nicolas Winding Rfen for his film Only God Forgives, featuring Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas and Vithaya Pansringarm.
The Foxtel Australian Documentary Prize, which awards a generous $10,000 prize, was awarded to Dylan MacDonald for Buckskin, a film which documents the work of Adelaide resident Jack Buckskin – a man on a mission to renew and reinstate a once extinct language and to encourage a new generation to connect with their ancestors.
The Dendy Live Action Short Film Award went to Miranda Nation for her short film Perception whilst The Rouben Mamoulian award, which is named after the Hollywood Director who first presented the award in 1974, was awarded to David Lyons for his film Record. The Rouben Mamoulian award provides a $5000 cash prize as part of the award.
Lastly, The Yoram Gross Animation Award, which is sponsored by Yoram and Sandra Gross, offers a $4,000 cash prize for the Best Australian Animated Short film. The winners are also Academy Award-eligible. This year, Isabel Peppard won the award for her film Butterflies.
