AlpineAlpine’s debut album, the almost self-titled A is for Alpine, is now officially out and has sat proudly at no.1 on the iTunes album chart for two days running.

Says guitarist and songwriter Christian O’Brien: “It’s been a long time coming, so we celebrated big time with cheap cigars and even cheaper champagne. We didn’t expect to hold the no.1 spot through the night but when we woke up a little groggy the next morning we were still there. I guess it’s all downhill from here. Ha!”

With Alpine’s album tour set to kick off this week, news to hand is that the Oxford Arts Factory show in Sydney on 31 August and the Corner Hotel show in Melbourne on 8 September have both sold-out and second shows have now been added as follows:

Thu 30 August – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
Tickets $17 +BF from www.moshtix.com.au
With Clubfeet & Georgi Kay

Sun 9 September – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Tickets $17 +BF from www.cornerhotel.com.au
With Clubfeet & Georgi Kay

Fans of Alpine can also score themselves a double pass to a show in their area by hitting the band’s Instagram. A Is for Alpine but what do other letters of the alphabet stand for? Fans take a picture, tag alpine’s Instragram with an @alpineband and leave a comment with the letter their picture stands for and which show they want to be in the running for. The most creative are picked by the band and winners will be announced midday 17 August, midday 16 August for Byron Bay winners. There are a couple up on the @ivyleaguerecords Instagram to get the ball rolling.
