If you’re looking to escape the cold weather, you can. We know that finding the best holiday destinations for sun during the winter is not always as straightforward as we think. There’s more to finding the best temperatures that simply jetting off south. If you’re a heatseeker like us, you’ll love Australia this winter! Compared to the UK, Australia’s summer starts in December and ends in February – so there’s no better time to visit, spending Christmas on the beach has never been more exciting. Despite Australia being one of the most remote countries to visit in the world, it is also one of the most popular places among travellers and backpackers.
Australia is also home to one of the most famous reef systems worldwide: the Great Barrier Reef. Not only is it popular for its profusion of marine life, there are a number of word-class diving opportunities available for beginner and advanced divers. Spend a couple of days underwater to see the turtles, sharks, graceful fish and vibrant corals that bring the waterways of Australia to life.
If you prefer life above sea level, you can visit the renowned Opera House and Harbour found in Sydney. Also home to fantastic parks and delicious foods at an array of five-star restaurants, there are a lot of free activities to get involved in. Plus, Bondi Beach is a surfer’s paradise! There are number of places you relax to soak up the sun or enjoy a dip in the cool water.
America is great. Not only is it a big country, the weather can vary from state to city too! Some of America’s best cities for winter travel in the winter include the likes of Boston, Utah and Denver. If you love the holidays but hate the cold, trade your thermal winter boots for sandals this year and celebrate Christmas in style in the New Orleans, Santa Monica or Savannah.
Better yet, winter weekdays are the time best to visit Disneyland, Orlandao. Despite having to wrap up warm, the temperate is perfect to stroll around without having to navigate your way through the crowds. Although some of the rides found in Disneyland are scheduled for refurbishment during the winter months and the parks close a little earlier varying from park to park, it is truly the most magical time to visit!
Airlines and hotels tend to lower their prices between January and February once Christmas has passed so if you want to head there this winter, we recommend waiting until the December rush has passed or to save a little extra cash to be able to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve in New York City or Mardi Gras in the New Orleans.
For those that like thrive on adrenalin and love the ice a snow, America is the perfect place to ski. You won’t be limited to what you can do since there are winter resorts for every type of skier. From the most beginner-friendly ski reports in North America including the likes of the Big White and Nakiska to Snowbird in Utah, you are bound to find a resort able to accommodate your needs.
