Azealia Banks – 212
If you’re a fan of electro and a crazy beat then Azealia Bank’s 212 is a track for you. Her cheeky rap pours robotically over an infectious drumbeat and the 20-year-old from Harlem certainly isn’t afraid to use a rather offensive yet tongue in cheek vocabulary, so make sure you maybe don’t play this one in the office.
A guaranteed club pleaser 212 keeps it pace til the bridge where Azealia finally shows off her vocal prowess before climbing back to a hyper-active anthemic rap. Before you know it, you’ll definitely be learning all the words whether you like it or not, with the synth bouncing up and down, 212 is just straight up addictive from the moment you hear it.
2011 may have been female vocalist Dev’s chance to shine, but with Azealia Banks already having a plethora of versatile tracks firmly under her belt, we’d say 2012 is going to be big for her.
