Bad Manners
It’s been a while between visits for ska fans, but the wait is over as Buster Bloodvessel and his band Bad Manners are set to return to Australia for the first time in ten years. BBM caught up with Buster as he toured America before flying Down Under.
You are known for being the insane man in a white jumpsuit, have you slowed down since the 80’s?
I used to have an explosive energy that I can’t really explain. The crazy thing is, the more the crowd go crazy, the more it makes me want to go berserk and the same thing applies today. If the crowd is on my side and encouraging me to go wild you can be sure that the crazy inner self of Buster Bloodvessel will come over you.
How important is your image to you?
My image is my alter ego. It really is the inner me trying to get out, but we always thought that having no hair, a large tongue and larger than life body would make me stick out like a sore thumb.
You have chosen to only perform shows outside of England, why have you made that decision?
It is a complicated decision but for years we have tried to keep all fronts working, the problem we have is that when we accept a show six months in advance in England. Then a 2 week tour of Brazil would come on the table and we couldn’t accept it. So it was my decision to stop accepting shows in the UK and to concentrate on all the markets outside England because the rest of the world are as addicted to Bad Manners.
Tour Dates:
June 15th: Step Inn, Brisbane
June 16th: East Brunswick Club, Melbourne
June 18th: Annandale Hotel, Sydney
June 19th: Newport Hotel, Fremantle
