Balance 18 – Nick Warren
Balance 18 – Nick Warren New to the balance series is British House DJ and producer Nick Warren, “It’s the coolest end of the compilation market and an honour for me to be involved,” this is displayed in the artist’s craftsmanship of the durability of the mix which is eked out throughout. The simplistic beats and phasing in and out gives the mix a minimal feel while keeping that beat resonating between the auras that’s created from the swish’s of the synth. Also the minimal choice of vocals keeps true to the mix. As house fans know, it’s significantly hard to change the face and sound of house music as a whole but however Nick Warren seems to be revelling in his own sound and classification in the genre with also new school techno techniques added to the mix. The experimental side is portrayed through the synthesizer and equipment he uses “I jumped ship to Ableton and the APC40 Controller some time ago and really enjoy it. I can do edits and multiple mixes on the fly, which is great fun. But I also am using the CDJ2000s as well – they are fantastic.” The mix does also convey Nick Warren’s ethos of using the global music market as his influence, with the eclectic collection of different techniques and sounds of dance music throughout, but still keeping the frameworks of house to keep his structure rigid.
