The speciality at this steak house is aged meat and lots of it, with steak on the a la carte menu listed under ‘Super-aged’ meat. With a choice of Rib eye, eye of rump, fillet, t-bone, rump and New Yorker, all steak is basted in-house and comes with crunchy chips and prices ranging from $26-49.

Vlado’s Steakhouse
Vlado’s Steakhouse in Richmond has been serving some of the city’s finest steaks for just shy of 50 years. The famous classic set menu features four courses and is priced at $93 per person. First up are gluten-free sausages made from beef and pork neck and then a tasting plate of fillet medallions and calves liver followed by your choice of steak. Fans of Wagyu will have to pay extra to feed their marbled fantasy,

Squires Loft
All steak from the grill is flavoured with Squires Loft baste before cooking and is served with either chips or baked potato. T-bone and rib-eye on the bone are particular favourites but are the two most expensive cuts on the menu. Prices start at $22 for a 200g rump and stretch to $56 for a CAAB angus eye fillet. The Squires Loft is one of our favourite places to eat steak and definitely worth a try.

The Corner Hotel
The Corner Hotel might be known primarily as one of Melbourne’s best live music venues, but the rooftop bar also has something for you steak fans. For $29 the 350g grain fed porterhouse comes with roasted Dutch cream potatoes, seasonal veg and red wine. For the more casual among you, grab the grilled steak sandwich for $19, packed with Victorian scotch fillet, Aussie Jack cheese, lettuce, caramelised onion and aioli.

Rock Pool Bar & Grill
With a reputation as one of Melbourne’s finest steakhouses, Rock Pool Bar & Grill might be best saved for a special occasion if you’re on a budget. With beef dry aged on the premises, steak enthusiasts are advised to share sides and sample the abundance of different cuts and breeds on offer. Wagyu beef with only a 9+ marble score is served and is generally the priciest on the menu, with the cheapest option being a 27 day aged skirt steak costing $42.

The Temperance Hotel
On Mondays and Tuesdays a generous porterhouse cut of steak with chips and side salad with either a free glass of wine or pot of cold beer will only set you back $15. On other days steak is served with thick cut wedges, prosciutto wrapped asparagus and red wine jus for $32.50 as part of the full menu.
