Bob Dylan Returns With New Studio Album
Bob Dylan’s new studio album ‘Fallen Angels’ features twelve classic American songs
‘Fallen Angels’ features twelve classic American songs written by some of music’s most adored and influential songwriters. The album highlights Dylan’s skills beyond his songwriting allowing him to show us just how good a vocalist, arranger and bandleader this living legend really is. Jack Frost produced the album and it is the 37th studio set from Bob Dylan, the first new music from the artist since ‘Shadows of the Night’ was released in early 2015.
Dylan’s newest body of work features songs from a diverse array of writers such as Jonny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn and Carolyn Leigh. Dylan recorded the album at Capitol Studios in Hollywood in 2015. Bob’s last album of classic American songs ‘Shadows of the Night’ reached the top 10 in seventeen different countries, including the US and Australia as well a #1 in the UK. Therefore, we can assume this one is going to go down just as well as Dylan’s previous six studio albums that have all been universally hailed as among the best of his star-studded career.
In recent years Bob Dylan has been on the receiving end of a number of prestigious awards to celebrate his one of kind career in music. He was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for “his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power”. As well as being a recipient of the Officer de la Leigon d’honneur in 2013. Dylan even boasts two Doctorates from the University of St. Andrews and Princeton University. Despite just turning 75 years old Dylan is without a doubt as poignant and powerful as he as ever been, even though he did not write any of the songs that feature on this album Dylan still seems to add his own unique touch to every track. In the wake of stars such as David Bowie and Prince passing away, this album makes you realise just how lucky we are to still have the great Bob Dylan around and doing what he does best.
