Daft Punk’s New Album ‘Random Access Memories’ Announced
You must have been living under a rock this month if you haven’t heard the commotion over Daft Punk’s fourth studio album.
Although the secretive nature the French duo put into keeping the albums name was quite something with Daft Punk stamping their name and image all over the world to provoke chitter chatter about their upcoming release. They launched a huge poster and billboard campaign, which featured an image of their blue and gold helmets, with just one single word ‘Columbia.’
The clever pair have strived to not release any information about what we can expect from the new album, yet their bill boards have appeared in a number of iconic locations sighted in America and most recently across Europe. Locations that have been injected with Daft Punk’s propaganda include Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, the South By South West Music Convention in Texas, Downtown Miami and Old Street in London.
The French duo, real names Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter reached significant popularity during the 1990s House movement and have continued to succeed by combing elements of house and Synth-Pop.
Various producers have attempted to scam fans by uploading new Daft Punk music and claiming it to be their new material.
No official single has been confirmed, however, the new album was first teased during an advert was aired in the middle of American TV show Saturday Night Live. It consisted of 15 seconds of new material, which saw the Daft Punk logo slowly revolving to a Disco style beat.
We can now reveal that the album will be titled ‘Random Excess Memories’ and will contain 13 tracks and will be released through Columbia Records on 20th May 2013.
So it’s safe to say this bold new marketing strategy has definitely been successful as the excitement surrounding this new album continues to soar.
