Dorian Paic Interview
Probably one of the busiest and timely DJ’s worldwide, Dorian Paic has seen and lived it all. Playing gigs from Dorian Gray and Omen to XS and Monza, and meeting incredible people from all social circles brought together by House, he has experience that mainstream acts can only dream about. Evidence of his expertise can be found at his record label Raum…Musik, where he is A&R as well as a releasing artist. Here, we chat to him about his participation in Cocoon in Ibiza.
You are part of an exclusive group of acts to be playing at Cocoon in Ibiza for 2013. What can we expect from your set?
My favourite selection of house and Techno tracks, old and new, combined with some unreleased music of friends and related artists plus some edits as well.
Cocoon is one of Ibiza’s best loved underground parties, what are your views on dance music’s explosion into the mainstream and how has it effected the underground scene?
I think in general it is good if more people get to know electronic music, even though, in a way, it has become more mainstream. Compared to other music, most of the stuff that I am listening to still is quite unknown, so if bigger acts or stages can help open people’s minds for electronic music, why not?
Are you working on any collaborations at the moment?
Yes, one with Markus Fix and another project with Felipe Valenzuela from Chile.
What are your plans for the European festival season?
Having fun and trying to play good shows.
What is the biggest track you are playing right now?
I don’t like the “big tracks” so much but one tune I definitely like is the next release on Oslo by my dear friend Federico Molinari called ‘Vaca.’
