EP Review: Horse Thief – Grow Deep, Grow Wild
‘Grow Deep, Grow Wild’ is the debut EP from the Oklahoma based psychedelic Folk Rock band Horse Thief. Its reverb-laden, Shimmery tones present a rough-around-the-edges sound that isn’t over appealing, but there’s certainly something worth noting.
The guitar heavy music does have it’s moments, and there’s enough flare to keep in interested during stand out track ‘The Magician’, but overall you are left feeling a little short changed.
You get the sense that Horse Thief are still trying to find their feet when it comes to songwriting, and the vocal tones on ‘The Warrior’ leave you wondering if the singer, Cameron Neal was full of cold when they recorded. Or perhaps that’s the sound they are going for..? I guess it’s just not my sort of thing.
