Canberra, the nation’s capital and home to 400,000 people, unfolds in a stunning spectacle of colour, light and entertainment in celebration of the spring to entertain you! Check out the following while you are there;
1. Boorowa Irish Woolfest Canberra
This is a quirky country festival that pays tribute to the town’s Irish history and the local sheep and wool industry. This is a free event.
The Parade
On October 10th at 12 noon sharp, a herd of sheep come trundling down the street amidst the tightly packed crowd on both sides. The sheep are followed by a street parade that features pipe bands, sheep floats and tractors in droves, to feature the country life and Boorowa’s Irish heritage.
Other Features
The boutique market stalls, rides for kids, live music, plenty of food choices and fireworks are the other spectacular features of this amazing country weekend.

2. Floriade Spring Flower Festival Canberra
Join in one of Australia’s biggest celebration of spring and the month-long colourful event of Floriade Spring Flower Festival held from September 14th to October 13th at the Commonwealth Park in Canberra.
Free Events
The park has free entry and visitors can walk in and out as many times as they like. Admire the awesome floral displays, be entertained by roving performers and shows on Stage 88 as well as shop at the markets, enjoy the Ferris Wheel ride and food choices from a wide variety.

The following are some of the ticketed events of the festival and need to be booked before arriving;

3. Night Fest in Canberra
Experience a different side of the Floriade by night at Nightfest to be held from October 3rd to October 6th. The nights feature live music (October 3rd – 5th) amidst the floral displays under light, while Sunday (October 6th) night will see a side-splitting and hilarious comedy show. Food choices, pop up surprises, roving entertainers and interactive displays are additional features of the festival.
