Oxford Art Factory Presents Free Fall – June 21st 2013
Following the success of Free Fall’s debut in 2011, the glass cube of Oxford Art Factory will once more transform into a series of enigmatic art installations, commencing on Friday 21st June in collaboration with representative partner Chalk Horse. Founding curator John A. Douglas together with James Kerr will introduce this spontaneous and interactive collection of performances. Oliver Watts starts the season: he explores the subversive power of art in connection to law and religion by inviting Barristers to sit for their portraits. James Kerr appears on the 28th & 29th June using sculpture and collage to dynamically represent Darwin’s Natural Selection. On the 5th and 6th July we are presented with looped performance videos combined with live pieces from emerging artist Kate Vassallo, who questions the role of the artist and the function of art itself. Finally, on the 12th and 13th July, Jack Gillbanks challenges the notion of space in juxtaposition with ritual and place. Heavily anticipated, Free Fall promises to capture the imagination and senses of all with its innovative and provocative approach to art.
