Go Boating In Mandurah
Popular boating hub Mandurah, Western Australia’s second-largest city and 72km south of Perth, is the perfect place for all things water-related.
To make the most of your trip, it is best to hire a boat for an hour or more and navigate the estuary, pay a visit to the new harbour and explore the marina. This is a great opportunity for a marine picnic – but don’t miss out on the canals, where you’ll discover an amazing range of enormous homes and boats great and small.
The boats tend to be reasonably priced and easy to sail, and the estuary waters are incredibly safe. Whether you’re using a sailboat or a power boat, these calm conditions make it an ideal location for both beginners and seasoned boaters alike.
Mandurah’s waterways are a favourite for houseboat enthusiasts, who enjoy the countless opportunities they provide. Only an hour away from Perth, this quiet corner feels like another world.
The area is also home to Western Australia’s most modern world-class ocean-based Marina, conveniently located on Dolphin Drive Mandurah, and currently berthing 98 recreational vessels and 35 fishing boats. It is a short walk away from the Mandurah Offshore Fishing And Sailing Club, which also has a 74 berth facility.
So no lack of parking spaces, then. Much of Mandurah’s attraction, however, lies onshore. The Marina houses an aquatic playground with breathtaking beaches, boardwalks, parks and piazzas, with an eclectic mix of waterfront stalls, a market, shops, cafes, restaurants and modern facilities for both professionals and amateurs. Even if you’re not a sailing enthusiast, the Ocean Marina is well worth a visit.
