The New Photo App – Jittergram
As a shameless Snapchat addict, I’ve exhausted every colour composition and imaginative video possible with the clever and highly popular little app; whiling away hours of doodling, my addiction has verged on disruptive at times. Disruptive to me, my friends and even the dog, forced to hold still and smile for the camera so that I can proceed to accessorize him with glasses and a pipe. Unsurprisingly, I was intrigued to hear about the new app Jittergram. Funkier than Instagram and simpler than Snapchat, it allows you to build your own twitching animation from back-to-back photos, which then flicker continually from one to the other. Creating similar effects to a flip-book, the short moving images can be sent as a text message or in an email to friends. Set to be yet another procrastination-tool, is it any wonder that we struggle to get anything done?
How it works: Jittergram lets you take two photos and then presses them into an animated GIFT that acts like a 3D stereogram. Bringing scenery to life around you, this twitchy little image is strangely appealing, if a little dizzying. Perhaps avoid with a hangover.
The only downside is the lack of instruction that comes with the app. But hey, searching for help on Google is just another invitation to procrastinate!
As with Snapchat, I’m awaiting bouts of jealousy to erupt from those unfortunate souls who lack a smartphone with which to join the fun. I know I’m going to curse the day that I ever installed the app to my phone – even so, I’m sitting here waiting for it to download so that I can start Jittergramming…
