GOLD COAST’S GOLDING SHARES SURFING, CAMPING SPOTS & ISOLATION ANTHEMS Golding combines the lush vocals of Jay Bainbridge and production from Matt Bartlem. A Gold Coast based indie-electronic project formed from the duo’s love for intricately crafted beats, melody and harmony.

GOLD COAST’S GOLDING SHARES SURFING, CAMPING SPOTS & ISOLATION ANTHEMS With a meticulously composed sound that draws inspiration from artists such as Alt-J & Phoenix, Golding experiments with melody, beats and space in a way that seeps into your subconscious, swirling around your mind and overtaking your senses.

Layering intoxicating harmonies with indie-dance nuances, the duo returns with their synth driven sophomore single ‘Alone. Together.’, an isolation anthem highlighting the blissful side of being locked down with loved ones. The track sees the duo pay homage to the old-school with a subtle nod to a new era.

What is unique about the place you live?

The weather! Year round the Gold Coast basically has perfect weather. You rarely need a jacket and can spend most days in the ocean with out a wetsuit.

Through lockdown, what has been your favourite thing to do?

Writing music. Matt and I are both lucky enough to have home studios so we have spent a lot of the lockdown period creating and recording. Also just getting a bunch of time with our families.

Have you got a favourite camping spot?

I love heading down south for surf trips with my friends. My favourite spot to stay a few days is Crescent Head. There are lots of great spots around there.

Your new single ‘Alone. Together.’ is incredible. What’s the story behind the track?

I had an instrumental of the track I did during the day. My wife and I were drinking wine while dancing in our kitchen and I put on the instrumental and verse just fell out of me. I rushed into my studio and finished the vocal in about an hour. It was so weird me to write a song while still in the actual moment.

How did you go about recording ‘Alone. Together.’ during lockdown?

I did the bones of the song in my studio that night then headed to Matt’s and we spent a day finishing the track. Matt mixed and mastered it that afternoon as well, it came together so quick.

Favourite Friday night dinner at home/restaurant?

Rick Shores in Burleigh Heads. It’s right on the point and has incredible atmosphere and views. They’re bug roll is also out of this world amazing.

What current projects are you working on?

We are finishing off our next single at the moment and putting together a body of work to release hopefully soon!
