Green Day Release Documentary
Legendary American punk rock band Green Day have just announced the release of their documentary ‘Heart Like A Hand Grenade’ which allows fans access to unseen behind the scenes footage of the creation of their multi-platinum album American Idiot.
The documentary comes as a result of Green Day’s collaboration with Reprise Records and Vimeo, with an exclusive Vimeo On Demand release on October 16th and showings in countries worldwide from November 11th 2015. Following this, the film will be available for purchase digitally and on DVD via Reprise Records from November 13th.
Filmed by John Roecker, ‘Heart Like A Hand Grenade’ offers footage from over a decade ago during the writing and recording of Green Day’s critically-acclaimed seventh studio album and provides a unique and nostalgia look back at the bands success. Billie Joe Armstorng, the band’s vocalist/ guitarist said of the documentary ‘We can’t believe this was shot over a decade ago. We are stoked for our fans to see this footage for the first time and watch us try and figure it all out.’ The politically charged concept album, which follows the story of Jesus of Suburbia, sold over 6 million copies and won a Grammy for best rock album of the year. In 2010, a stage adaptation of the album debuted on Broadway, winning yet another award for Best Musical Show Album.
