Interview Marc Romboy ahead of Australia shows!
What’s your name and what do you do?
My name is Marc Romboy and I make electronic music.
Where do you live?
I live in Mönchengladbach, Germany, not far from the Dutch border.
What was the last club night you went to you weren’t playing at?
Good question. Let me think. That was in Seoul, Korea. The club is called Faust and the party was awesome.
What/who was the highlight?
The crowd, they were simply lovely.
Which upcoming artists do you think we should be listening to at the moment or making an effort to get out and see?
Well, actually too many to mention. But I really like what Viken Aman is doing nowadays.
Is there an act who supported/warmed up for you that really blew you away? (can be anytime)
Also too many to mention. But wait, that guy called Hyenam in Seoul was fantastic, a very tasty and preparing set he played.
What would you say was your main inspiration for your latest track?
Without any question Johann Sebastian Bach
We’re getting excited for a string of exciting parties all over the world on the run to up to NYE. Where was the best NYE party you ever played?
That was in 1996 in a Wine catacomb place near Frankfurt. I played Dave Clark´s Red 2 EP and was blown away.
You’re heading over to Aus soon… What are you thoughts on the scene there at the moment?
You better ask me this after the tour. But with regards to my experiences during all my Oz tours it must become a wonderful time.
There’s some exciting promoters really pushing things down under. Is this getting talked about much overseas?
I have to admit that on the one hand the scene in Australia is a bit off the radar here in Europe but this can, on the other hand, make your scene more independent. So all good.
We’re pretty much obsessed with travel and music so we’re always hunting for tips here’s a few quick-fire questions.
Where’s your most memorable beach holiday and what’s your most vivid memory?
Maldives islands never disappoint. Pretty remote and like a dream.
Where was the most surprising place you ended up having a party?
A jail in Holland a few years ago. The good news was that they closed it down a few weeks before the party.
Where is your favorite rooftop bar/club?
Oh, there are so many. I really loved Weekend in Berlin, near Alexanderplatz. Not sure whether the place is still existing.
Where is your favorite restaurant?
There is no favorite one. I like all offering Kobe beef.
Where do you get the best pint?
At home on my sofa.
If you’re craft beer drinker what’s your favourite?
I´m more that wine type of guy. But generally, I can claim that every country produced good beers, not only Germany.
What’s your favourite pub meal Fish and Chips, Sausage and Mash or???
Potato crisps, the classic.
Other than music, what can’t you travel without?
The photos of my kids have to be in my case.
Best airport in the world?
Munich
Best clubbing destination in the world?
Berlin
Anything else you would like to add?
If it wasn´t for the music, where would we be?
