Jessy Lanza Drops New Single
Canadian electronic songwriter, producer, and vocalist, Jessy Lanza has announced her sophomore album, ‘Oh No’, to be released on May 13 through Hyperdub.
2013 was the year Jessy Lanza became a household name, with her debut album, ‘Pull My Hair Back’ released to critical acclaim and widespread praise. Produced along with Jeremy Greenspan from Junior Boys, her inimitable mix of funk, soul, R&B, and haunting high-register vocals set Lanza apart, rightfully placing her #4 on Resident Advisor’s Top 20 Albums of 2013, and touted by The Guardian as “the latest and possibly greatest of the new ethereal soul girls”.
Teaming up again with Jeremy Greenspan for ‘Oh No’, Jessy Lanza looks to take listeners on a journey through her own neuroses in an open letter to the anxieties that interrupt her creativity and ideally tranquil process. ‘Oh No’ seems to be at odds with her recent spontaneous collaborations with Caribou, DJ Spinn and Morgan Geist and his Galleria project.
The album track, ‘It means i love you’ is accompanied by a sparkly and other worldly video, drumming up excitement for what the upcoming album has in store. Signifying a step forward in her sound, Jessy Lanza has fans on the edge of their seat with the release date in sight.
‘Oh no’ will be released 13th May through Hyperdub.
