This bucket list adventure takes you from one of the most northerly points of Australia, through the heart of the rocky desert, and down to the city of Adelaide in just 12 days!

Blitz through your travel bucket list on the 12-Day Darwin to Adelaide Explorer whilst meeting and interacting with incredible people from all different walks of life, discovering your daring side with adventurous hikes, camping under the stars and overall marvelling at the natural beauty this route through the country has to offer.

Your first port of call on this 12-day adventure will be an incredible tour of the Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks where you can observe the natural beauty of the Top End in all its glory! You will admire the unbelievable force of the waterfalls whilst discovering your inner explorer with some rewarding hikes. After returning to Darwin and enjoying a free day to relax and explore, you will continue your journey south and head to Nitmiluk National Park: a remarkable sandstone landscape dissected by a winding river. Here you will enjoy a scenic walk whilst learning about the significance of this area to the local Jawoyn Aboriginal populace. You will finish off your day in the historic Daly Waters Hotel – a cosy pub built by settlers in the early 20th century.

You journey into the heart of the Red Centre on day six, towards Alice Springs – the largest town in the Northern Territory. Here you will be exposed to the mesmerising indigenous culture of Australian aborigines. Day seven will entail an authentic trip to an outback camel farm where there is the option to ride them! You will then set off to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for lunch and to discover the famous sight of Uluru (Ayers Rock) – an astounding ancient geological phenomenon, undoubtedly one of Australia’s most notable tourist attractions. You will watch the sun set on the beautiful vast landscape and spend a night sleeping under the stars.

The next morning will be an early start so as to witness the sun rising over the towering natural spectacle. You will then encounter up close and personal the culture of the Mala people at the Cultural Centre and have the opportunity to connect with one of the oldest civilisations in the world. The next day is all about Kings Canyon; get your hiking boots on and discover the North and South walls of the canyon and the pockets of verdant greenery such as the Garden of Eden.

The next day it’s another early morning to cross the border between the Northern Territory and South Australia. You will get the chance to explore Coober Pedy, a town dubbed the ‘opal capital of the world’, given the quantity of opals mined. After a day of discovering the museums and mines, you will spend the night in underground bunkers – captivating dugouts in the earth functioning to avoid the scorching heat. The next day you will cross through the salt flats, a mass of land that was once a seabed which now makes for a fun and interesting photo opportunity.

After continuing your journey south you will stop at the small town of Glendambo, which has a population of more sheep than humans! Continuing your route south you eventually arrive in Quorn – a typical Aussie town that prospered with the arrival of the Great Northern Railway. Unwind on the last night in true Aussie fashion with a traditional BBQ. The next day you will be hiking to the summit of Dutchman’s Stern for amazing panoramic views of Quorn and the surrounding area.

The last stop on this incredible tour will be the beautiful sweeping hills of Clare Valley before arriving at your final destination – Adelaide. Here it will be time to part ways with your group and guide before you are left to your own devices to explore the city.
