Northeast Party House At Goodgod Small Club Review
A sweaty mix of indie-party-sing-a-long-jump-around noise kicked off the long weekend as Northeast Party House brought their energetic live show to Goodgod Small Club last Friday night.
Like a swaying mass of sweat-covered, arm-flailing devotees, their fans stormed the dance floor and bounced to every drum beat and every guitar riff that Northeast had to throw at them.
No wonder these guys are getting the kind of reputation that propels such bands away from just being “good” – they are clearly more than just that.
With debut album ‘Any Given Weekend’ in the bag, they are now in prime position to get the party started right across the country, with track highlights including ‘Haunted’ and the firm fans’ favourite, ‘Pascal Cavalier’. It’s in no one but their hands to push on with their feel-good vibe.
It is easy to label the band a “party” band, but they are more of a “fun” band, mixing genres such as indie, alternative rock, dance and hip-hop to create something that I would liken to the UK’s Bloc Party. Again, similarities don’t just end in the band names.
Like the bands of this style before them, they have the energy and sound to put up their dukes and fight with the best around them, and so it appears, come out on top.
Maybe it was the small, intimate venue. Maybe it was the alcohol and realisation there was no work ‘til Tuesday, or maybe it was because the crowd couldn’t help but jump about to every beat provided. Whatever it was, it kicked off the weekend for many inside this dimly lit music-cave perfectly.
