Lake Taupo region attracts locals and visitors alike all year round.   Lake Taupo was formed by a volcanic explosion in AD 186.  It is the biggest lake in New Zealand.  Mountains, bushland, geothermal hot spots, serene lakes and volcanic terrain are some of the amazing geological features of this region.  The region of Lake Taupo has a number of activities to choose from all year round.  Skydiving, fishing, sailing, water sports etc. are some of them.

For more information on Lake Taupo, please visit;

1. Tandem Skydiving over Lake Taupo

Admire the sheer size and beauty of Lake Taupo as you climb up to an altitude of 9000 feet or more in a scenic plane.  Anticipate the big jump as you get closer to the moment!  Experience the best adrenaline rush of your life as you plunge from the plane into the fresh air!  After an insane 30-second free fall when the ground rushes up to meet you at 200 km per hour, gently float down with your parachute and touch the ground!

2. Eco-boat Sailing on Lake Taupo

Set sail on the sparkling blue waters of Lake Taupo.  Feel the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair as you glide over the waters.  Explore the hidden bays and the dramatic coastline that speaks of Taupo’s volcanic past!  Admire the stunning views of the lake and the distant peaks of mountains rising high above.  Alternatively, get a more hands-on experience by taking the wheel or hoisting the sails.

3. Trout fishing on Lake Taupo

Grab your fishing gear, hire a boat and go on a fishing expedition at Lake Taupo!  Rainbow and Brown trout are the most dominant fish in Lake Taupo.  They were introduced to the lake in 1898.  Lake Taupo is the last known resource of natural wild trout in the world.  As per New Zealand law, trout can only be caught for personal use with a local fishing license.
