Ones To Watch – Kali Uchis

Off the back of two sold-out London shows, a surprise guest appearance at Coachella with collaborator Tyler The Creator, and the hype created around her mixtape album ‘Por Vida’, Kali Uchis is continuing to demonstrate with her self-proclaimed “lowrider soul” why she is has been touted as one of the most exciting and unique talents of recent years.

The video for ‘Rush’, which was directed by Uchis along with creative duo WIISSA, mirrors the peppy production of Kaytranada and BADBADNOTGOOD, channelling cali-soul vibes and uninhibited sexuality as Uchis and her gang of beautiful women hang out provocatively in pools and cruise around the desert highways in their lowrider.

With the sun-soaked ‘70s-esque Super 8 handheld video-camera vibes, Uchis’ carefree, laid-back and sultrily soulful vocals glide through you like the wind in your hair as though you were cruising with them in the backseat of a cadillac with the top down.

Together with her contemporary soul sound and her breezy sensuality, Kali Uchis is truly cruising towards a bright future.
