Opiuo And Shapeshifter Collaborate On Massive EP
Two of New Zealand’s finest international musical exports have come together for one massive EP. An alignment of two strong forces in the beats world, Shapeshifter and Opiuo combine their speaker-rattling bass adventures and funk-fuelled glitch perfectly for one of this year’s bigger releases.
Both Opiuo and Shapeshifter have never been types of shy away from experimenting and expanding on their sound palette, and with ‘Slug a Bug’ they do exactly that. With the unmistakable vocals of PDigsss from Shapeshifter playing over the top, they move from the pounding deep ends of breaks to hair raising, high frequency melodies. The B-side to the EP, ‘Warehouse Be Like,’ is a choppy roof-raising party starter that doubles as an infectious floor burner. Destined for a number of plays on the dance-floor, they’ve definitely cooked up a track that is laden with funkadelic bass.
The Opiuo Band Live will be performing at Let Them Eat Cake Festival In Melbourne on New Year’s Day alongside Daniel Avery, Ame, Jon Hopkins Four tet and more, while Shapeshifter will co-headline the massive Northern Bass NY festival in New Zealand.
