Petite Noir UK Headline Shows Announced!
Originating from South Africa, Yannick Lluga is musically known as Petite Noir, and was born in Brussels and at the age of 21 he has done a lot for himself already. He was a former member of electro-pop group Popskarr with friend Spoek Mathambo, and has now gone solo with the cracker that is ‘Till We Ghosts’ picking up thousands of hits worldwide. Believing that “you can appreciate a Britney song as much as you can appreciate a song written by Radiohead” no wonder his music has such great presence. His debut single ‘Till We Ghosts’ blew up, finding big support from BBC Radio 1 whilst featuring on Pitchfork amongst many others.
Then he came to London to play a sold out show, got himself a BBC Radio 1xtra residency and followed that with a stunning performance for The Boiler Room. This remarkable early momentum has very quickly established him as one of the most promising new artists across the globe.
New single ‘Pressure’ is the next page in the Petite Noir story, offering a glimpse of more new music to come before the end of 2012. Like all his music, ‘Pressure’ is a unique concoction of influences, seamlessly fusing intricate contemporary electronics with his stirring, soulful vocal and African shuffles that echo his homeland.
