Rolling Stone Cover Outrage
Rolling Stone magazine has outraged readers worldwide, as they have decided to place an image of one of the alleged Boston bombers on the front cover.
Instead of the usual images of musicians or actors, readers were shocked to find that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old connected with the American bombings in April, had been portrayed similarly to an icon. Many had complained via social media platforms that the cover bears a striking resemblance to an old cover, featuring Jim Morrison of the rock band The Doors.
A number of readers have found the controversial decision to create an uncomfortable link between terrorism and iconic status. More than 260 people were injured as a result of the Boston bombings on 15th April 2013, and three killed. Rolling Stone magazine has refused to comment on the decision.
