Savage Skulls, ‘No.1 Spot’ – EP Review
Swedish duo Carli Löf and Måns Glaeser have been making quite a name for themselves over the past few years, both as independent artists and under the joint force that is Savage Skulls. After picking up some much deserved hype from their debut EP ‘Bumps,’ released on Switch records, they were picked up by Enchufada Records and have come through with ‘No.1 Spot’ as their debut release on the label.
Opener, ‘No.1,’ does exactly what Savage Skulls have made a name for themselves doing: taking their sound far out of their surroundings of Stockholm and delivering a tropical taste to their fidgety synths and techno beats. These tunes far from hold back and are straight up frenzied affairs that certainly don’t belong in your bedroom. Savage Skulls are all about producing tracks straight for the clubs and second track ‘Lorimer’ demonstrates this to full effect. Its pulsating whistle and pounding beat are searching for the climax from the very beginning and after some chaotic synths it drops in heavy with that famous dancehall flavour. Oozing with energy and adding a new taste to the electronic music scene there’s no doubting you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of these guys this year.
