Seeking A Sublime Summer In Ibiza
Where dance music lovers flock to for unforgettable DJ sets under the beat of the sun, Ibiza turns up the heat every summer and 2015 will be no different. This party island has an incredible amount to offer including big names and even bigger events beside water sports, wildlife and picturesque coastal townships.
With some of the most famous club brands, venues and DJs making Ibiza their home, it’s become the most prominent party destination in the world, and despite competition from the likes of Cyprus, Croatia and Greece, there are no signs of it stopping. From the longstanding venues like Ocean Beach Club, Sankeys and Ibiza Rocks, to the boat parties that take to the Mediterranean waters for a whole day of outrageous fun, there’s a seriously good time on offer. So, what if you combined them?
This summer, the guys at Pukka Up have decided to turn it up a notch with Friday boat parties of quite epic proportions. Not only will ticket-holders set sail from the San Antonio Marina for a front-row seat of the sunset, water shows and a soundtrack provided by superstar resident DJs, they’ll gain access to the two after parties at Ibiza Rocks and Sankeys, as well as a daytime session at Ocean Beach Club. Proving that there’s even more to be achieved when it comes to the clubbing experience, these incredible Fridays will run from 5th June through to 18th September 2015.
Of course, you wouldn’t go all the way to Ibiza for just one monumental day, so what else does this island have to offer?
For starters, did you know that Ibiza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Since 1999, Ibiza’s natural and cultural charm earned it the honour, and it’s not hard to see why. The diving opportunities are without a doubt the best in the Mediterranean, with a crystal clear coastline stretching 200km and sea beds and coral reefs that support a variety of marine life including the endangered Mediterranean monk seal. There’s even a community of sea squirt species that combats and prevents different types of cancer…
The historic towns boast some of the greatest architecture you may ever witness. Military architecture and engineering from the Renaissance can be found in the 16th Century fortifications, while the ruins of sa Caleta and the Upper Town strongly represent the Phoenician times.
You could always spend the rest of your week or two lounging on one of the many, many beaches that Ibiza boasts. With 18km of natural, golden sand you can go off in search of a quiet, empty stretch and pitch up a parasol, or join the crowd and find a spot on one of the beaches just a few footsteps from the island’s hotels.
From the best parties in the world to the cobbled streets of old towns and underwater discoveries, for whatever reason you decide to make Ibiza your summer destination, just don’t forget your sunscreen!
