Single Review: Youth Lagoon – Worms
Creative one-man American musician Trevor Powers, AKA Youth Lagoon has been experimenting with sounds from outer space on his latest atmospheric and emotive release.
No seriously, it’s the first slice of an interesting compilation album The Space Project. The project provides several artists with rare recordings from across the galaxy, for them to play with, in order to form a track of their own interpretation, from the solar system.
‘Worms’ expresses tantalizing keys and strings, along with strange, eery, underlying and mysterious noises which explore the possibility of a spaceman drifting through the atmosphere.
Sounds of experimentation, the unknown, and the strange adhere to be not too dissimilar to the psychedelic MGMT.
‘I could be an astronaut, first let go of me…’ sings Powers, telling a lyrical tale painting images not to dissimilar to David Bowie’s ‘Major Tom’. Youth Lagoon transports your brain to the stars for an entrancing four and half minutes.
