Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (Subclass 482): As of now, the Australian government has only started giving out the Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (subclass 482). On December 7, 2024, it took the place of the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa. By making it easier for qualified individuals to come and work in Australia, this visa also aims to alleviate the country’s labour market shortages.
Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (Subclass 482): Key Features and Streams
1. Specialist Skills Stream
- Highly trained professionals with a minimum yearly income of $135,000 are the target audience for this visa.
- Aside from tradespeople, equipment operators, and labourers, it is also available for the majority of ANZSCO jobs.
- Provides expedited processing with a seven-day turnaround.
- The plan also provides a route to permanent residence as well as four years of visa validity.
2. Core Skills Stream
- This programme focuses on workers with the necessary skills for positions on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).
- Pay must be at least $73,150 per year, with increases tied to changes in Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE).
- Participants in the programme are also eligible for permanent residence, and their visas are good for up to four years.
3. Labour Agreement Stream
Eligibility Criteria
- The ideal applicant will also have worked full-time in the field for a minimum of one year in the past five years.
- An IELTS score of five or above (with a minimum of five in each section) is required to prove that the applicant is fluent in English.
- The person is perfectly healthy and has the required moral fibre.
