Whether you are on your Perth to Broome Adventure Tours or situated in your own spot of heaven, snakes are a very real and common threat in Perth and Western Australia. Here is vital information that should not go unmissed.

How to avoid having snakes in your home in Australia.

Inspect gaps and holes and make sure everything is plugged so nothing can get into your home.
Check out your garden make sure there are no snakes present, check wood piles and area behind sheds.
Have the foundation of your house checked for cracks.
Fence your house so nothing can slither in.
Make sure there is no space for a snake to slither in under the gate.
Keep dogs and cats.
Ask you neighbors about snake sightings and listen and act.

What do I do if there is a snake in my house?

If you are not sure it is poisonous call the council and get the help of a snake catcher.
If you are sure it’s not poisonous use gloves and pick it up and move it away from your property.
Leave the snake alone they often just go away.
Use a long broom to brush the snake away.
 Carpet python snakes
These snakes are not venomous and are not dangerous to humans, they generally eat small mammals and birds. Carpet Pythons kill their prey by wrapping themselves around the prey and then squeezing the prey until it suffocated.  Carpet pythons can be dangerous for small pets and children.
A carpet Python can be 2 to 4 meter long or say 13ft and can weigh up to 15 kilos. They can live to 20 years or more.

Dugite snakes Perth

These snakes are happy in urban, bush or rural settings. The can be found in sand dunes, they are slender in appearance and can be from 1.5 to 2 meter long when grown. They are venomous and can be lethal.

Mulga snakes

These snakes can be up to 3 meters long say 9 feet, they are venomous. They are also known as king brown snakes. These snakes are common in all Australian states and love timber piles, rocky places with nooks and crannies.

Tiger snakes

Often found near water, they do not bite unless disturbed. They are venomous and nocturnal. They grow to about 2 meters. Their main diet are small rodents.
Tiger snakes can live for 10 to 15 years.

Brown snakes

People don’t often die from a bite straight away, it really depends on the person and their health status. On average 4 hours is the time taken to die. Most hospitals carry anti venom and although deaths do occur they a few. Brown snakes can live up to 7 years. !.5 meters to 2.5 meters is the average length of a snake you might see.
