Spielberg To Develop Kubrick’s Napoleon
It has emerged that Steven Spielberg will develop Stanley Kubrick’s scrapped screenplay ‘Napoleon’ into a TV miniseries. Kubrick shelved interest in the making of the film in the 70’s but Spielberg told French TV channel Canal + he will adapt the screenplay for a television audience.
The two directors previously collaborated on the 2001 film A.I Artificial intelligence, with Kubrick’s original idea conceived in the 70’s and written and directed by Spielberg almost 30 years later.
According to a Hollywood reporter Kubrick devoted years to the Napoleon project and the director, who passed away in 1999, is known in the industry for his perfectionism with a personal catalogue of classic films. Spielberg will work in conjunction with the late directors family during the making of the series.
