Sui Zhen Infinity Street New Video
Noisey have premiered the new video for Sui Zhen’s single ‘Infinity Street’, taken from her forthcoming album ‘Secretly Susan’, which is being released on Two Bright Lakes / Remote Control Records in 2015. The video features Sui Zhen apparently having a lovely, if somewhat suggestive time, with a fern and a giant egg. And you have to admire her mastery of staring off seriously and ethereally into space with no knickers on, holding a large fish.
‘Infinity Street’ is a cheerfully loopy concoction, with balearic beats and airy vocals that combine into a wonderfully crazy cocktail perfectly represented by the video’s pink beaches, cats and brain eating. Photographer Phebe Schmidt and DOP Joshua Aylett have fitted Sui Zhen’s unique and quirky sound into a highly representative visual form.
Sydney-born Sui Zhen (also known as Becky) now lives in Melbourne, performing as a solo artist and band member with Sui et Sui and is otherwise known as DJ Susan. Sui Zhen’s previous EP ‘Female Basic’ drew on Japanese post-punk and this definitely comes through on ‘Infinity Street’, but with a healthy smattering of Bjork at her least conventional.
‘Infinity Street’ has a definite marmite tang, but it’s certainly worth a watch. We seriously doubt you’ll see anything like it – at least until her next single.
