The Amazing Light Shows At Vivid Sydney 2015

The Light events of Vivid Sydney are some of the most astounding, awe-inspiring sights you may ever lay your eyes on. The imagination that goes into these installations is incredible, and could only be the work of people with a Vivid imagination. Not only are they a highlight of the festival, many of them are completely free to view, so don’t miss out on the following shows between 22nd May and 8th June.

Piano Stairs

Created by an artistic collective, Piano Stairs is a dream come true for anyone that watched the film Big as a kid. Not only can you play a tune as you move your feet, the lights flash depending on your movements and is a great way to get some physical activity. Piano Stairs will be located one the stairway of the AMP Building at Circular Quay throughout the whole of Vivid Sydney.

Jellyfish Chandeliers

Lighting up the walkways of Chatswood Station throughout Vivid Sydney, these Jellyfish Chandeliers are part of an underwater world that light up with multiple layers and fibre optic tentacles. Part of The Nautilus and the Sea installation of the Concourse building, don’t be afraid as these eerie works of art dangle above your head.

The Star Letters

While always eye-catching, the letters of The Star will light up even brighter during Vivid Sydney, with musical accompaniment to provide a treat for your eyes and your ears. Located on Pirrama Road, you’ll be able to see and hear them throughout the whole festival. Sitting high above the letters, The Star’s Sky Terrace rooftop venue will be lit up through interactive music including Face-Off karaoke, which projects the participant’s performance on the Event Centre’s wall, as well as projected video games.

Lighting The Sails

The famous Sydney Opera House takes centre stage at Vivid Sydney when it comes to life with projected artwork. This year’s projections come courtesy of Universal Everything, which will no doubt throw some inventive designs, bold colours and imaginative imagery onto the sails to light up the evening sky. The Sydney Opera House will also play host to some great Vivid Music events, including The Drones, An Evening With Morrissey, and 10 Years Of Future Classic.

Universal Everything Free Exhibition

For the first time in Vivid history, the Vivid Light Walk will enter the Sydney Opera House, with a free exhibition on the guys that are bringing you this year’s Lighting The Sails. Celebrating 11 years of Universal Everything, there will be old and new works full of colour, wonder and craftsmanship, so that you can fully appreciate the minds behind the design collective. Running at the same time as Lighting The Sails, you can prolong the sensory experience by stepping inside the Sydney Opera House.
