The Best Road Trips In Victoria
From the ocean to the mountains, there are some beautiful road trips to take in Victoria where memories can be made of places and views that will stay in your mind forever. Whether embarking on the iconic drive along the Great Ocean Road or taking lesser known routes over barren landscapes, these are the best road trips in Victoria that you should definitely pack up the car for.
Great Ocean Road
One of the most famous coastal drives in the world, who would we be if we left off the Great Ocean Road? With crashing waves beneath you and unbelievable sunsets to gawp at, enjoy the cliffside views of Aboriginal sites, shipwrecks and the spectacular Twelve Apostles. With plenty of camping sites along the way, extend the 243km journey with an overnight stop.

Great Alpine Road
From Wangaratta to Metung, wind your way around the Great Alpine Road for 339km of mountain ranges, deep valleys, thick forest and stunning vineyards. With beautiful colours every time of year, boutique wines to stop off and enjoy or mountain air to breathe in, you can keep active by leaving the car and go walking, cycling, rock climbing or kayaking on the Gippsland Lakes.

Murray River Tour
Another of our favourites, the Murray River is a serpent in the ground of Victoria, winding 2520km from Upper Murray to Kosciusko National Park. You can drive a portion (659km to be exact) of this mighty path beginning at Albury Wodonga and finishing at Mildura, to soak in the mountains of the Great Dividing Range, enjoy the picturesque towns dotted here and there, and sample the food produce made throughout the entire state. Experience the desert of the Mungo National Park, fish in the famous river or sit inside a traditional country pub with a cold local beer.

Around Port Phillip Bay
For a shorter round journey, you can make this drive in four hours, starting and ending in Melbourne. From Bellarine to the Mornington Peninsula, take in the pristine beaches and scenery, receive warm welcomes in the seaside towns of Portarlington and Queenscliff, and experience the Bass Strait coast on a horse ride. A ferry will take you to the idyllic setting of the Mornington Peninsula, where you can surf or fish on the beaches or browse the boutiques and galleries.

South East Triangle
Embark on this journey from the heart of Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula, with the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and Phillip Island in between. Take it leisurely on a five-day trip enjoying the essence of Victoria and all it has to offer. You will come across valleys, forestry and the coast, while enjoying smooth wines, delicious cheeses and wildlife.
