Warm up inside one of these establishments with the best roast dinners with a beer in Melbourne.

The Grace Darling Hotel

This trendy pub on the corner of Smith Street has brought back its famous Sunday roast for winter. Compared to other cooking methods, the prime cuts of meat and vegetables are cooked together in a cast iron pot and brought individually to your table. You can expect tender lamb and generous servings to fill your boots with. If you’re not much of a meat eater, the vegie roast option is also available. For just $20pp plus 12 local craft beers including Brunswick Bitter, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

The Vincent

At The Vincent in Albert Park, a winter-warming dish of free-range roast chicken, Gippsland-grown potatoes, broccolini and honeyed carrots is available every Wednesday evening from 6pm. This succulent meal is plucked straight from the fields of Victoria, served up within the beautiful furnishings of the restaurant and perfect with a bottle of the local White Rabbit or Coopers Pale Ale. Yours for just $16pp, satisfy your hunger and thirst with this homegrown and hearty meal.

The Commoner

A Sunday staple for seven years, the roast at The Commoner is more like a banquet with a different cut of meat every two weeks. From roast pork to beef and leg of lamb, all are cooked in the wood oven to retain a smoky flavour, and each come with added accompaniments to compliment the meat at $32 a head. You can even request your own kind of roast in advance. The roast is also available on the ‘Feed Me’ menu, a substantial dinner including entrée, main and dessert for $65pp on Sundays. While The Commoner boasts an extensive wine list, the beer menu is small but high in quality, with Australia’s very own Mountain Goat Steam Ale, Cavalier Pale Ale and Bridge Road Robust Porter to choose from.

The Cricketers Arms

Enjoy a traditional Sunday roast at The Cricketers Arms. Available from 12pm, there’s nothing better than gathering all your mates over a hot meal on a lazy afternoon. Better yet, kick back at 2.30pm and chill out with live acoustic music in the beer garden – perfect with a pot of your favourite frosty, cold beer from the fully-stocked bar.
