The Temper Trap To Perform At 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final
Are you looking forward to the 2012 AFL Grand Final? We are, but now we’re looking forward to it even more as none other than The Temper Trap will be performing at the AFL Grand Final!
2012 has already been a massive year for The Temper Trap with their self-titled sophomore album debuting at #1 in Australia followed by a swag of sold out shows and spots on some of the world’s biggest festivals.
So it seems apt that The Temper Trap are about to add one of the biggest sporting events in Australia to their extensive resumes – performing at the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
The Temper Trap are set to headline a new halftime show in the middle of the MCG as well as performing an encore performance with Paul Kelly at an unprecedented fan event. The Premiership Party, a free post-match fan event open to the public where the MCG will open its gates to the public at 6pm, will follow the conclusion of the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final. Fans will have the chance to enjoy a free encore performance by The Temper Trap and Paul Kelly in the lead-up to a special presentation to the crowd of the 2012 AFL Premiers.
Paul Kelly, arguably Australia’s greatest singer songwriter, will headline the new pre-match program with Australian singer/songwriter and You Am I front man Tim Rogers who will also perform as part of the pre-match program.
With an impressive catalogue of hits under their belt including international sensation Sweet Disposition (2 x Platinum), Fader (Platinum), Love Lost (Platinum), Need Your Love (Gold) and latest single Trembling Hands (Gold), it is arguable that The Temper Trap are one of Australia’s finest exports in recent years.
Notably The Temper Trap will be heading to Australia fresh from partaking in The Africa Express; a UK tour by a collective of African and Western musicians personally curated by influential Blur & Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn. The band will also return to the road straight after the Toyota AFL Grand Final performance for a series of October headline & festival dates in the UK, Europe and US, before returning to Australia in November as special guests as Coldplay.
The 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final will air on Channel Seven on Saturday 29th September.
