If you’re feeling brave then take a dip with some giant saltwater crocs at Crocosaurus Cove. Taking a plunge into the cage of death will get you right up close to these prehistoric beasts and you’ll also have the chance to meet some less scary creatures whilst visiting, including; barramundi, sawfish, archer fish and whiprays at the freshwater aquarium as well as turtles at the Turtle Enclosure.
45-minutes south of Darwin you’ll find the Territory Wildlife Park in Berry Springs. It’s here that you’ll have the opportunity to spot dingos and other native Aussie wildlife.
For more action-packed adventures a cruise along the Mary River Wetlands where you’ll find the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles on earth. On a cruise here the boat will get you right up to these ferocious beings in their natural habitat. Here you can also enjoy fishing and birdwatching.
Feel like going off-track for a couple of days – or even just for the day, the Litchfield National Park is where you’ll encounter stunning swimming holes and waterfalls as well as soaring termite mounds and venture down the Adelaide River via boat to spot even more crocs as they lurk in the waters next to you.
For more fun to be had in the city, take in dinner on the stunning Darwin Harbour or sample the exotic delights of the Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Taking place every Sunday and Thursday evening, you can join the crowds that gather on the Arafura Sea shore as the market comes alive with hundreds of stalls.
