Track Of The Week Find Me By Szjerdene
Applauded for her writing and vocal credits on Bonobo’s superlative 2013 album ‘The North Borders’, ascending artist Szjerdene is focusing her attentions on her reputable solo pursuits with new track ‘Find Me’, a collaboration with elusive NYC producer Quays.
Having toured the world extensively in since 2013, Szjerdene has now finally settled in the
picturesque canals of Amsterdam where the mixture of provocative culture and quaint surroundings have appeared to incite a period of self-reflection which is evident in her
fragmented and vulnerable lyrics on ‘Find Me’ – they were written freestyle over Quays’
sparse but sultry synth driven tremors.
Gothic yet seductive in tone whilst lyrically heartfelt and raw, Szjerdene’s ethereal and
personal vocals glide over the grimy and severed beat that bears similarities to contemporaries James Blake and FKA Twigs but without the theatrics.
The more and more Szjerdene’s lyrics unravel her inner thoughts (“The one I’ve known forever – stripped down in front of me” possibly referring to her own soul-searching), with her captivating and longing vocals the track ends in a dreamy and bubbling crescendo that will
most certainly leave you longing for the next chapter in her hypnotic story.
