Underbelly Arts Lab and Festival 2013 @ Cockatoo Island – July & August 2013
Underbelly Arts Lab and Festival 2013 will return to Cockatoo Island next month with more than 100 of Australia’s greatest emerging artists showcasing their talent.
Underbelly Arts is split into two sections: The Lab and The Festival. The Lab is a free eight-day mini-residency where audiences are invited behind-the-scenes to see the process taken by artists developing their work. From 24th – 31st July, on Cockatoo Island, experience the mystery of the method experimental artists use while working on a project.
The Festival will begin on 3rd – 4th August, where Sydneysiders flock to Cockatoo Island for the adventure and experience of new and exciting art.
Archibald-nominated painter, Abdul Abdullahn, working with his sculptor brother, Abdul-Rahman Abdullah are among the artists involved this year. Others include the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award winning writer Anna Barnes, working with “Geek Bus” owner Fee Plumley and Radio National’s Jesse Cox, Penelope Benton and Alexandra Clapham.
