SAATSUMA: Overflow Album Launch
SAATSUMA illuminate latest single, ‘Crescent’ with an enigmatic accompanying video, premiering via… this week. The brooding clip follows the release of the Melbourne duo’s captivating debut album, OVERFLOW and arrives ahead of SAATSUMA’s album launch inMelbourne, September 23.
Drenched in midnight hues and lit by a watchful moon, the ‘Crescent’ video follows SAATSUMA’s Memphis LK through three locations, reflective of the three phases of the moon cycle. Indirector Dyllan Corbett’s own words, “The Crescent video is an exploration of identity and belonging told through three separate narratives. Looking at cycles, orbits and atmospheric forces.” Using quick cuts and illusionary editing with an emphasis on movement, the footage depicts elements of human nature through this surreal world created by Corbett. Exploring – in it’s protagonist Memphis LK’s own words – “the undeniable impact of the moon on our emotions and behaviours, and that these are constantly shifting and fluctuating.”
SAATSUMA launch their debut album, OVERFLOW at Northcote Social Club this Saturday September 23, supported by Squidgenini, MinorFauna and DJ Dee Luscious. They also play The Plot in Parramatta on Saturday November 18.
