Nambung National Park

The Pinnacle Desert looks like something out of a sci-fi movie with enormous limestone pillars rising from shifting yellow sands. These ancient rock formations stand eerily together in the Nambung National Park with some reaching an incredible 2-3 metres high. Hence, the Pinnacles is a must as your first stop when departing from Perth. But, the park offers much more. You can also visit the lovely beaches of Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay. And, when you reach the park’s northern end, you’ll come across a loop trail and boardwalk at Lake Thetis. That is where you can see the captivating stromatolites (rock like structures). 

Visit Geraldton

Geraldton gets regular eight hours of sun per day and year-round high temperatures. Gerro as it is fondly called is a famous destination on Perth To Broome Tours. This beautiful coastal city offers a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, and pristine beaches.  The salty, sensual waters and conditions are so ideal for windsurfing that it’s regarded as one of the best spots in the world. The awesome archipelago known as the Houtman Abrolhos Islands lies 60km off Geraldton. Their breathtaking beauty belies a horrible history, as these isles were the scene for the grisly Batavia massacre when 125 passengers and crew were brutally killed by a psychopath following a shipwreck in 1629.

Kalbarri National Park

Heading further north, you’ll encounter even more geologically impressive terrain as you reach Kalbarri National Park. Here you’ll find Nature’s window – a natural frame fashioned from the eroded rock as well as Murchison Gorge – which you can abseil down. This is further back up by huge coastal cliffs, more than 300 ft high. If you love adventure, you can also spend an afternoon kayaking through the zig-zagging waterways and enjoying hikes through the challenging terrain. 

Monkey Mia

The dolphins of Monkey Mia are renowned for swimming into the shallows where you can get up close and personal with the marine mammals and even have a go at hand feeding them!

More Indian Ocean fun awaits, as you reach Coral Bay. And, Ningaloo Reef is just off the shores of Coral Bay. This exquisite reef is home to a shark nursery, manta rays, and whale sharks. From June to October, you can see the humpback whales as they migrate past. So then is the best time to keep your eyes peeled for a breaching whale on the horizon, or better yet, take a boat out to see them up close!
